Also, in regards to the Greenblatt book on Special Situations investing, what kind of background would be good for this type of work? So you'd be working at an event-driven hedge fund, researching special events like bankruptcy, spinoffs, mergers and acquisitions, distressed debt, etc, and deciding whether to invest in them.

It almost seems like an IB or even Law background would be more appropriate than the standard CFA/equity-research background. Thoughts?

That "Margin of Safety" book is selling for over $800 on Ebay.

Is there a .pdf file of it?

c_hayhurst, how much is it worth to you? I'm thinking, for $999, I'll get you a pdf. You can print it any number of times, you can search it, you can make copies of it. So it's definitely worth more than $800, wouldn't you agree?

Market: $800
Worth: $1000+
