Also, in regards to the Greenblatt book on Special Situations investing, what kind of background would be good for this type of work? So you'd be working at an event-driven hedge fund, researching special events like bankruptcy, spinoffs, mergers and acquisitions, distressed debt, etc, and deciding whether to invest in them.
It almost seems like an IB or even Law background would be more appropriate than the standard CFA/equity-research background. Thoughts?
