Will begin top tier MBA next year (deferred). Have no quant or finance work experience. Interested in IM and S&T. Thinking of taking Level 1 this Dec and Level 2 next Spring.

What to do, what to do . . ..

Alot of people have said it's a waste ot time and $ since no IM firm will likely touch me immediately after my MBA. Also not sure if I even want to do IM long-term. Interested in S&T short term.

If you have your future career position in mind, check the recruitment ad of your dreamed post to see what qualifications are needed other than working experience. You must acquire these necessary qualifications before you can take the same position. This is the first 10 years of your career life - to acquire all necessary qualifications in order to be eligible as a candidate for your desired rank.

If CFA is useful in such a position, you must take it. If not, why not spend your time to get other qualifications that are really needed in your career path.

Remember, CFA is not an academic achievement, but some basic technical tool that you need when you are in the relevant fields. If you are a carpenter, you need a saw. You do not need a saw if you are an electrician.
