CF,FRA,EQ,ETHICS are the key to this!!
I didn’t even look at ethics last year, FI is overrated. what do you think??
(Number of vignettes)
2014
ALT,ECON,FI,QUANT - 1
CF,DERIV,ETHICS,PORT -2
EQ,FRA - 4
2013
ECON,FI,PORT,QUANT - 1
ALT,CF,DERIV,ETHICS -2
EQ,FRA - 4
2012
ALT,ECON,PORT,QUANT - 1
CF,DERIV,ETHICS,FI -2
EQ,FRA - 4
2011
ALT,ECON,PORT,QUANT - 1
CF,DERIV,ETHICS,FI -2
EQ,FRA - 4
2010
ALT,ECON,PORT,QUANT -1
CF,DERIV,ETHICS,FI -2
EQ,FRA - 4

this will be really a fight for your precision.
6 questions will make or fail you for certain topics

Thanks, useful… and not to be nit-picky but…
1. how did the weights change over these years?
2. why are they all 18 vignettes, shouldn’t it be 20?
3. and I’m curious, isn’t this post breaking standard VII (A) ?

Well, it’s a guaranteed 2 vignettes, possibly 4… i’d say it’s pretty important

………… I’m not taking advice from you

2. why are they all 18 vignettes, shouldn’t it be 20? <- fixed.
3. and I’m curious, isn’t this post breaking standard VII (A) ? <- it’s public information, i just collected the info from AF past posts.
………… I’m not taking advice from you <- hehe no worries

using minimum weights for 2015 we get
QUANT,ECON,CF,DERIV,ALT,PORT - 1
ETHICS,FI - 2
FRA,EQ - 3
this is 16 vignettes. so this leaves 4 (20%) to be assigned.
CF has its own book, would be shocking if there was only one vignette for CF.
FRA is traditionally the difference between pass and fail, another one here.
EQ, again has it’s own book. one here.
FI with another vignette (15%)? I don’t think so - four vignettes(20%)? Nope.
So I say DERIV gets another..
prediction 2015
QUANT,ECON,ALT,PORT - 1
ETHICS,FI,DERIV,CF - 2
FRA,EQ - 4

Why are you analysing this? You’ve got the Topics Area weights on the CFAI website? and 2015 has changed from previous years.. for Level II you might fall in trap you never know how many topics are going to be tested every year.. Even Ethics has changed.. you might get 3-item sets!!!!!!
Judging from the previous years there has been a change in weights of some topics.. EXPECT the unEXPECTED!!!.. But Fixed Income has increased in imporatance as well as FRA, and Equity.. but dont look on those topics you’ve still got 50% on the rest of the topics.. I encourage you to Focus on the big topics “Master them” and play down the weights.

I counted 20 in each.
I’d recheck that if I were you.
(Should people be taking advice from someone who cannot count to 20? )

thanks RT, I also found this. seems nobody who flunked EQ managed to pass. compelling..

Fixed Income has been changing since i’ve taken it in 2012.. and since then many readings have been pulled-out/ or renewed. So readings before being pulled out might get tested and the next year nothing left for two-item set and then they introduce new readings.. Judging from the mocks.. Mock exam doesnt give you precise weights what are you going to see exactly in the exam and this is the fun part for them.
Do as much practice, but if you found readings that havent been asked on the mock make sure you know them well!!

Can anybody provide me some good practice questions on fixed income

Yep, this is what I’m roughly working to (when it comes to what to revise in the last few hours)
