Has anyone attempted any of the topic tests provided by CFAI?? I recently finished going through all the FRA material and attempted some topic tests only to find out that i can hardly score over 60% on any of the topic tests that i have attempted. Wondering what you guys think of these topic tests and feel free to share your scores and comments…

I used them when I took L2, and I found them very helpful. If you take one or two modules and score less than what you want, review those topics and the correct answers. I would then revisit the curriculum or your notes to restudy all of that material before you use up more of the item sets. My first attempt median score across all online item sets was about an 83%.

These topic test questions are taking me twice the allotted time… is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I thought i was well prepared for FRA section after going through the readings and doing all the blue book examples and EOC…. I feel defeated after doing these practice assessments

(Last year I found the online CFAI practice questions to be substantially more involved and somewhat more difficult than the actual exam questions. Especially for FRA.
I would definitely warn against complacency but I would say if you can get a decent score on the practice assessments, you can expect to do better in the real exam (if last year was anything to go by).

Being in the same exam cohort as you, I agree. Most of the online FRA assessments made sure you caught each detail of a not-so-obvious piece of information. I thought the actual exam was substaintially easier. To further S666’s point, good practice scores should help your confidence in that you’ve done well thus far, but the caveat is the fact that the practice scores don’t actually count for anything. It’s best to keep pushing through, regardless of your performance and keep a healthy respect for any exam you take.

But, I think they were harder than the exam in L1; at least the mock felt that way to me. My plan is to hit them starting 10 weeks from the exam. I.e., not integrated (other than the FRA I did) with studying those readings, but as a segue to mocks.

Did the first 3 FRA topic tests and got 2/6, 5/6, 4/6. Found the first one confusing as **** but the others not bad. Going to save the rest for later when I do review before mocks.
Did the first ones or Econ & Quant as well but cant recall scores. Recall them being pretty fair though.

Was the first FRA topic exam something about an eagle company (or loosely about something with an eagle)?
Also, I recall the full length CFAI mock was more challenging than both the actual exam and online assessments (could vary from year to year if they change it up). My performance on that mock, though, was pretty much identical to my median (and mean) score of all the online assessments.
Haha yes I remember that “Eagle” FRA practice question set…I think I consistently scored about 2/6 on that one and I must have taken it 3 times over about 3 months. Can’t remember exactly what it was about, I just remember it making zero sense to me. Even sat there with answers in front of me, I was still like WTF?
