Hi,
I have a question to someone who have already taken topic tests on CFAI website.
How long are they? How long does it take you to complete them?
I saw on the forum that some questions had occurred later in the Mock on CFAI website. Did they fix it also for the Level I?

Give them a try, they are very good practice. Getting a final score of 65-70 is a good proxy for a pass in the real exam.

Depending on the topic they are 20 questions per topic for the shorter topics (derivatives, AI) and 40 questions for the big topics (FRA, ethics) and 30 questions for most medium sized topics (eco, FI, equities etc). At first they might take a bit longer since some of the wording can be weird at times, but after you have done 3-4 you can probably finish one in about 20 mins. I have been doing them all of November and going to finish off the last two weeks with mock exams.

The topic tests are really helpful, but they are way easier than the mocks or the actual exam in my opinion. At one point when I was studying for level 1 I did all the topic tests straight, from top to bottom, and pretty much got between 80-100 on all of them. I tried my first mock a few days later. The first 60 questions took me over 2 hours and I probably only got 35-40 right. Gladly this was 2 months before the exam…but, just a heads up. If you are strapped for time, I would skim through the topic tests and focus more on the CFA mocks.
Just my two cents. For whatever its worth. I got >70% on all topics except FRA (50-70%). I can attest to the importance of drilling as many mocks as possible.
