Hey Everyone.

I was thinking of joining the Toronto CFA Society but was wondering if it is worthwhile. I am a level I candidate for December and will be graduating University in the spring. Given the fact that I will be in University and unable to attend many of the events the TCFAS holds, I think I primarily want to get a sense from any members the depth of the job board. Are there any postings that target Level I candidates or are they mostly for charterholders?

So to sum up my question: Is it worth paying the dues to gain access to the job board, given that I am a recent undergrad and level I candidate??

Thanks!
Ryan

i wouldn't join a society until you pass L2, that has been my strategy at least. guess I have to join one now

Hey I just posed the same question about the NYSSA.

http://www.analystforum.com/phorums/read.php?1,600418

I just passed L1 in June and am in my last year of undergrad as well. As you can see the reponse was that it would be a great networking opportunity.

I am going to join as a student member. At least with NYSSA student membership is only $60, you get access to the networking events, seminars, and the job boards. There isn't really much risk, and there is potentially a lot to gain.

i dont think u can join unless you have atleast 1 yr work experience ...if i remember correctly but i cd be wrong ...

Hey LICandidate,

Yea I think I'm in the same boat... i don't think it can hurt really.... i think toronto charges a little more though... $160 CDN a year

Was that student membership advertised on their site or did you have to ask if there was special rates for students?

I don't know about Toronto, but NYSSA has student membership like I described above. Only prereqs are that you are attending a univesrity and have at least a 3.0 GPA
