Treasury stock

On page 165 of the CFAI book for FRA, it has common stock decreasing in the balance sheet from 2010 to 2011. It also has a negative value for treasury stock.
sorry for asking a CFA level zero question, but shouldn’t common stock be increasing in this scenario? Not decreasing?

Assuming common stock is on the balance sheet at book value too^
or am I just totally wrong and missing something here.

Common stock will only increase if they issue additional shares. Treasury stock is a debit account so it should be a negative value in the equity section of the balance sheet. I’m not sure what you are asking about book value which is the net value of all equity lines (excluding preferred stock).
