So, to those of you who passed the exam, and used Book 7 - did you find the extra expenditure useful in acquiring book 7, or was it a waste of money because it is too hard?

it was good practice, but the online sample exams through the CFAI are the best. I would still purchase book 7 though.

I didn't like book 7...i did 2 exams from book 7 but found book 6 much better and the CFAI online exams more realistic and a better indicator. (that's just me though). Book 7 is much more quantitative whereas most candidates are surprised by how little math ends up being required on the exam.
That being said, depending on which Schweser package you purchase they throw in book 7 included.

I liked book 7 only because it gave a new perspective to the questions. It was much harder than the actual exam, but it really helps you realize where your strengths and weaknesses are

Book 7 exists so that people don't get content that they have this material down (also a nice reminder of what CFA exams could be).

Except that sometimes, when you're content, you are also right !

I was worried I was missing something, so I ordered Book 7 in late April. Never touched it.

I was doing well on the Book 6 tests (88 - 95%) and the CFAI online exams (same), and trusted in the comments here. I even think there may be some harm in doing the Book 7 problems because they make you focus on material that is NOT tested (thereby excluding material or at least the types of questions that ARE tested).

useless from my perspective. didn't even start it. didn't even finish the book 6. Still got all > 70% in all sections.
