I decided to only use the CFAI books after using Schweser for both levels. Should someone use Schweser at all (in addition to the CFAI books) and if yes then for which sections or LOS?

It depends on your time constraints and your command of the knowledge. If your strapped for time, the Schweser provides thebest bet to internalise the materials due to its concise nature. However, if you need to grasp all the concepts and beyond (and you have the time) the CFAI materials are useful.

Schweser is good but it doesn’t cover everything. You still need to read the CFA books.

I passed L3 this past June and I had the same question/worry as you. I solely used the Schweser books and I found that the practice tests (Schweser and past CFAI exams) were the thing that really solidified the knowledge. I only read through the Schweser materials 1 time and did not do the end of section questions either. Hope this helps!

well i passed using only schweser for level 1 and 2. I have just started and i am going through behavioral finance reading 7. and atleast for this reading schweser is poor to plain out wrong on ocassions. Poorly done reading notes and zero emphasis on making you actually understand the concept and rather then filling you with buzzwords that maybe you can just rote learn and spit out on exam. Having said that the original cfai reading doesn do much better in giving you understanding given this is a self study program. I have had to use external sources (textbooks), some youtube videos etc to help me get some idea of what is going on. I am going reading by reading at the moment. Maybe my thoughts will change on the schwese notes and the cfai text as i move to other readings, hopefully for better.
