Hi,
I just passed Level 2 and was looking at what I should order as my study material for Level 3. On Level 1 and 2 I have been using Irfanullah’s videos and I find the Pakistani guy is quite good to summarize things when you don’t have the discipline to read the whole material. Love him in the FRA material, in some areas he is weaker though (the more quantitative stuff).
My question to you Level 3 people are, what would you recommend for video-lectures, I definately want videos, but there might be a better choise than Irfanullah?

I used Arif’s videos for Level II and passed - am planning to use his videos again for Level III.
I thought his videos were very helpful with getting through the CFAI materials. Then applying what I’ve learned to BB’s, EOC’s, and Mocks. Practice is really key and this is what his course continually emphasized.
Note: I am not affiliated with Arif at all and this is my first post on AF after passing Level II today.

I have used Arifs videos for L3 and found them pretty decent. If you ask Arif for a few sample videos, he would be happy to share. So use them and see for yourself if you like it.
Note: I havent yet passed the exam, so you can take my advice or ignore it. And again I am not affiliated to Arif, just been the user of his videos.

I used arifs video for l2 and they were good\
For few topics , i had to buy elans videos also eg pensions etc
Elan doesnt have videos for l3 or i would have gone for them . Now i will buy arifs videos

Anyone you used Schweser or other more “official” sources for videos?

I’ve used Schweser and Elan in the past for previous levels. Elan was far surperior in terms of instruction quality, but they were released VERY late. I don’t think I would go back to Elan until they had done Level 3 for a solid 2-3 years. I just cannot trust their promises in terms of timing.

i watched videos when i sleep so i could subconsciously receive the information in my sleep.

i learned it from another friend and it kinda worked!

^_^

The problem with Elan is that, they are very very very very late and never keep their promise!

last year the first level 2 videos came out ~january, and they didn’t end up releasing the final one until late april. Go with Arif’s videos if you’re comfortable listening to him - he is not my style of lecturer, but he seems dependable.

The Schweser videos were terrible for the first two levels, so I don’t know why they would be any better for level 3.

used arif’s videos too for L1 AND L2 and found them to be quite helpful. The guy is usually quite precise and to the point,There are a few lectures where I thought he sucked(DRV-swaps..slow,boring and not that great an explanation) but overall he does put in quite a lot of hard work in responding to the candidates queries, has set up a Q&A google group where he frequently participates and address questions on his video lectures and other CFA related queries. Also prepares regular quizzes and asks candidates to take them under test like conditions.I attempted his quizzes and found them to be reasonably difficult and good practice.he constantly encourages candidates to practice and offers useful tips/tricks to make the study process easier and smarter.I would go for his videos for L3 too as I found them to be a very useful resource!

I also used arif irfanullah’s videos for level 2 and successfully passed the exam. But a lot of reading and practice still needs to be done. I’d also go for his videos for level 3 as I like his style of teaching.

Videos is well worth the money imho. There is so many occasions when I’m just sick and tired of reading page after page in the book, to just listen and then do practice questions took me through the dark moments in level 2.
Also in Level 1, I never encountered accounting before, I really needed someone to dumb it down for me, I couldn’t wrap my head around it just by reading a book. So arif saved my ass on Level 1 and that’s why I paid for the Level 2 material.

Why are you guys spending so much on videos and notes? CFA can be a self study exam
Some people need to HEAR someone else explains it to understand the material.
it’s like some people study better in study groups, or explaining the material to a child, or have to write their own notes because they learn from writing…
and others, like you, can learn from just reading.
