Was last year easier?

I meant I breezed thru Equity and FRA in 2014, but despite even more preparation this year, I found the two largest topics more challenging this time around with more traps, multi-step calculations, and more difficult concepts selected. I don’t know if CFAI adjusts topic difficulty from year-to-year based on how well candidates did, but it wouldn’t surprise me after a high pass rate last year. If I didn’t do at least as well as I did last year on FRA and Equity, I don’t have a chance next Tuesday.

I can relate to what icetonez just mentioned. I also struggled with FRA & Equity this year whereas I was much more confident in these sujbects last year. Although this year I did much better job in Quant, PM and Derivatives as last year i wasn’t even able to understand what the question required me to do. My last yr matrix break up is as follows
Q#TopicMax Pts<=50%51%-70%>70%-Alternative Investments18–*-Corporate Finance36–*-Derivatives36*—Economics18-*–Equity Investments72-*–Ethical & Professional Standards36-*–Financial Reporting & Analysis72–*-Fixed Income Investments18*—Portfolio Management36-*–Quantitative Methods18*–
All the best to all.

I found derivatives, alternatives and fixed income particularly tough this year. Since there’s 3 marks per question, i wish cfa would offer 2 marks for working, and 1 for the correct answer. At least that way you can demonstrate an understanding of the topic and score points for it even if your final answer wasn’t correct. That seems fairer than someone guessing the correct answer for 3 marks. If you have a sound understanding of a topic but made a slight mistake and picked the wrong answer, you would still get 1-2 marks for the rationale/working given for the answer, and the person who guesses can only score 1 out of 3 max. Ah well, nothing we can do now, 6 more excruciatingly painful days! I for one can’t stop thinking about the stupid result and this is affecting my sleep, my mood and my enthusiasm and output in work…can’t wait til this nightmare is over!

Have to say…CFA Level 2 Forum is definitely the most happening place amongst all threads on AF.
L-1 is quite dull

I wonder how many would pass if the rate was 66% this year? Passing rate would go up 1 or 2%? That incredible! Fingers crossed.
