Now that the 2008 books are completely worthless, what will you be doing with them?

Trash? Recycling? Bonfire?

And what will you be doing now with that big void on your bookshelf?

Personally, I'm going for the bonfire (at least for the CFAI books, anyway). I'll also be constructing a shrine to Saint Joseph of Cupertino, patron saint of test takers, I think.

I'm going to save them until I pass L3, then I'm going to take all the books, along with a gallon of gasoline and some matches and go somewhere isolated..

They're not worthless man. You can sell them for at least $100 bucks on ebay, I'm guessing.

I'm going to reenact that office space scene...and then breakdance shortly thereafter...

what the h*ll am i going to do with myself tonight!

If you burn em you have missed the point of this whole thing (IMO).

CFAI texts - Keeping them for reference.
The CFAI would be hard to sell, cause anybody interested qould enroll and get them anyway.

Stalla notes.... useless for 2009 takers, plus they are all scribbled and written on.
So... probably just trashing them (once I know I passed).

+1

I am thinking that since level II and III build on level I - it could be just useful to keep them on hand, just in case there is something that refers back and by some freak coincidence I didn't remember absolutely everything in the 6 weighty tomes of knowledge.

The whole point of this thing is to be able to put ", CFA" after my name.

Worst attitude I've ever seen. The 'CFA' behind your name is not a golden ticket. It will not necessarily get you that dream job that you want. If you think it will, then you are in for a world of disappointment. If you are a charterholder, but can't recall the information, then it is pretty much worthless. It shouldn't be just about the destination, but also the journey.

If that is your attitude, then it will be extremely difficult for you to get through the program.

EDIT: I keep my old books in my office as a reference tool.

Keeping the books at the office. I don't think I could ever actually burn a book, I have a hard time even donating or giving away books that I've read multiple times.

I just love books.

I already know all of this stuff (the parts that would actually be relevant to real life). I'm not learning anything new by going thru the material.

So recalling the information isn't a problem, I just need the title.

Personally, I would never burn a book. I just think there is something very wrong about doing that and in my mind only religious zealots or nazi would do such a thing.

I'll probably put them under my pillow to see if I'm able to retain more info.

I'm keeping my books to remember the Journey, sacrificy and lonely nights the CFA caused me and how gratifying it all was.

Definitely keeping the CFAI material. If nothing else just looking at it now conveys a sense of accomplishment. As for the Stalla material I'll keep it for a while, maybe if someone is interested and cant afford the 09 material I'll let them use it.
