What does "CFA Level 1 Passed" give you?

Okay, straightforward question here. I’ve just passed CFA Lvl 1 and i know its nothing compared to level 3. Just hoping some insights from people whom already passed it several years ago. What does level 1 give you? Some sudden advance in career? More income? More networks? Or else?
 
Nothing .what it does give you is a hope. Thats valuable..isnt it ;)
 
Should give you some kind of a VP job. You don’t have to worry about applying either, they will seek you out.

Really? How long does it take from cfa result day to hiring day in your own experience? Where did the employer find out you passed cfa level 1? Tell me more! :D

It was a sarcasm bro. He meant you would get a Vice President Job (like top of the world…) and you didn’t even need to look for them, they would call you.
Look, CFA L1 passed means you are into a path that not much people belongs to around the world. This is the first step proving you want to be an investment-financial analyst. If you continue the path you will surely advance faster than those who want a career exactly than yours, so keep advancing with the levels.

It was a sarcasm bro. He meant you would get a Vice President Job (like top of the world…) and you didn’t even need to look for them, they would call you.

I thought it was pretty clear his response was sarcasm also….
 
I actually did get an equity research interview after passing Level I. Should have waited for after Level II as all the questions were about valuing a company and I hadn’t really learned anything about that until during Level II studies. (Economics major, worked in corporate finance, no experience valuing companies)
I would say updating your LinkedIn - it looks nicer after you have passed it. It shows you at least know a thing or two about finance and are dedicated enough to studying for it. Other than that same rules apply for getting a raise, finding a job, etc. I did get a 20% raise this year but my boss and I talk every day about CFA and have discussed that. Lots of people work places where no one even knows they’re taking the tests or it’s an expectation.

Passing L1 means that you paid attention in your undergrad business classes, and that you’ve passed the entrance exam to the real exam.

At last some decent thoughts. Thanks you for your advice, i’ll do what you advice. Time to edit my linkedin page then. By the way, is there any way for people outside cfa institute to check which people have passed the exam? I mean like BAT (Bloomberg Altitude Test - CMIIW), employer can subscribe to bloomberg to see which people have passed the exam.

I echo Greenman72.
I was trying to explain this same thing to my family (they act as if I just won the lottery). I explained to them how I simply made it one step closer to finishing the program.
They way I see it….
Most quality graduate schools require some kind of admission exam (e.g. GMAT). And most programs take 2 - 3 years to complete.
Applying the same concept to the CFA program:
Pass Level 1 = Admission to the graduate course
Level 2 + Level 3 = 2 - 3 years of course work (if you’re determined and/or lucky!).
 
I’ve seen many finance positions advertized in which the advert states, “CFA Level I a plus”, or words to that effect.
More than nothing. Slightly more, perhaps, but more nonetheless.
