So to sum up this post:

Almost everybody is agreed that the typical SALARY for a post-MBA research analyst at Fidelity is in the region of $90k-$130k.

In a good year, said analyst can expect/hope to get a bonus in and around 100% thus taking total comp to somewhere in the ballpark of the quarter of a million figure being bandied about.

This year, unless you or your team put in a truly spectular performance, said analyst's bonus is going to be far lower than 100%.

I'd imagine the average total comp for research analysts this year with less than 3 years experience will be less than $150k and quite possibly significantly less.

Key point to remember here - salary is not the same thing as total comp. You are entitled to your salary. You are not entitled to a bonus.
 
Good summary Carson. I'm not sure why people seem to think $200K - $250K is that much when graduating from a top 5 school and working for one of the largest investment firms in the world.
 
Well you have a pretty good sample of people on this forum who've graduated from top schools and worked for large brand name firms to reference. Raise your hand if you were one of those people who pulled down 250G's right out of business school. Anyone? Bueller? Goldman, Morgan Stanley...maybe. Fidelity = laugh.
 
JTLD, sounds like you're just jealous because you didn't earn that at the same point in your career. Don't worry, though. All of those young 'uns won't make 250 this year.

Confession? I was pretty clear that the all-in figure would depend on market conditions. In pre-2008 times, they were definitely pulling in 225K+.

These summaries are pretty useful when threads go over a certain amount of pages (say 3 or 4). Chad should designate someone.
