Congrats, to all those of us who passed. Its been a really painful year but the result certainlys good.Ok, just wanted to know, what are ppl.gonna do at work tomorrow? Are u gonna ask yr boss to give u a rise? Are u gonna start looking for a better position?
In any case guys, as Ali G used to say-Big up-!!!!

Goodbye lever 1, hello level 2

Raise..my boss is going to say something like "Are you out of your mind? You've passed level 1, not obtained the designation".

Then, I'll just go on as I do every regular day.

Congrats guys, but there is a long road ahead. have a nice dinner, have few drinks.
Pat yourself on the back and move on. Don't ask for a raise, you will be laughed outta there.

But c'mon on mate, why not? Think about it. Its called efficiency wage theory and it works. It worked for Henry Ford back in the good old days. If your company does not give you a bonus, or give you a rise or even shine your balls, then you will not be as motivated as you would have been o.w.

I know I can get a better job if i apply elsewherre and I plan to do some tough-arse bargaining in the next months.

Dont forget, this is quite a big deal, its a worldwide exam, and only 40% pass, so tell yr boss to give u a break and a rise

memalos -- think about it from your company's perspective. Has your marginal productivity changed since yesterday before you knew you passed? Probably not. On the other hand it has boosted your marketability. I think it depends on how willing people are to "walk" if they don't get the raise they ask for.....

Agreed. Its either that or the highway, as my friends in the US say. But hey, lets cash in those lost weekends!

i took your advice, stormed into my boss's office this morning, and demanded a raise because I was a level I CFA. I am now unemployed and looking for work.

You needed to say you were a "Level II CFA candidate" - he fired you for calling yourself "a Level I CFA".

PS: CorvetteMan - I hope you're kidding... and aren't really out on the street.

I dont know about you but henceforth I will be using CFA as a noun, and especially in plural form, not imply but outright state that my partial completion of the programme signifies that I am a kick-ass analyst, able to generate amazing returns etc.

eg/
Guy1- Hey, last night i had dinner with two CFAs from Goldman
Guy2-Where they any good?

Guy1- YOu betcha!
