writing FRM level 2 in November anyone else?
Yup, I am too…I’m actually wondering whether it may be worthwhile doing CAIA level 1 in September then FRM part 2 in November. I want to do all three eventually and think getting them out of the way as fast as possible may be the way to go. Getting sick of all this studying…
Do you really think there’s value in pursuing all those three. I just threw the idea of starting FRM and some seniors discouraged that at office. I am in real estate, PE and alternatives (may take on public markets as well at some time in future).
Definitely worth it, CFA is becoming more and more popular, which is great for the recognition of the award etc, but does reduce its competitive advantage so having CAIA and FRM as well shows you are fully tooled up. Also they are more focused on specific areas so it is likely they will become the benchmarks of those areas in the not to distant future. Also in my opinion, it is best to get them out of the way as soon as possible, the CFA has (from what I understand) become harder as time has progressed and the number of charterholders increased and would imagine the same will happen with CAIA and FRM as well (from what I have heard CAIA became more difficult last year…)
That said although I would love to jump into a new qualification, I’d rather see how I did with level 3 of the CFA first and even if that is out of the way I’m fairly certain that I would be given divorce papers if I sign up to study something else…

Nothing. I’ll try to invest 10% of the time I invested in the CFA on working harder, and another 10% on networking.
+1. In my case, CFA is like my beta exposure. If I get the charter, I’ll just be a dime-a-dozen, even if it’s still something good to have. I’m going to be working on my alpha. People skills, writing skills, communication skills, networking indeed.
I work on the sell-side and I know plenty of non-charterholders that have superior qualities in these skills and make multiple times the comp of others who do have the charter but are not nearly as “marketable”.
