Namely, what part of the year do investment banking firms bring in a new class of analysts/associates? In May or September?

That's two different questions. Hiring season is late fall (October/November-ish). Most classes start in September.

What classes are you talking about? I was just wondering when i-banks hire (Namely when do recruits START working/orientation?

Usually alot of firms start employees in May (Right after graduation) or in September. Just wondering when I-banks start recruits....You say that it is in October/November? Or do you mean that is when they recruit/make offers for the next year?

Let me know

O.K.: a cohort of hires is called a "class".

The first-year "class" is HIRED (i.e. go through interviews, get offers, choose firm) in ~October/November.

They START working in September of the following year.

But if you can't figure this out, you should probably forget about the whole thing right now.

Is the hiring process primarily done through on campus interviews or is there other means? The reason I ask is b/c I go to school in Houston but would like to work in Dallas (and I dont think Dallas recruitment is heavy in my Houston-based school).

Unless you go to Rice, you won't see many IBs recruiting in Houston area schools.

If you go to Rice, firms usually post jobs and try to recruit Jan/Feb.

Hiring is late fall, and the analyst/associate programs start usually right about now....
