when to start studying

Really? This is an actual thread? I passed, so I plan to enjoy life for the next few months. I don’t want to think of CFA! Don’t you folks have lives? Go travel, hit a concert, meet a girl/ guy, check out a new bar, read for leisure, focus more at work, etc. etc. Why in the hell would you start reviewing material now? I sure hope you don’t have a family…

Idk, i feel like theres a big difference between starting to actually study now and just starting to look over things now. I was thinking of trying to read through the CFAI books before November as I have a busy nov-december, and then starting real studying come January. I feel like I might not retain too much, but itll help some.
I got by level I and II studying not nearly as much as I probably should have, but now that the end is near I feel like I want to just put a lot of effort in this time and get it over with. Granted I told myself the same thing for level II and that never happened so we will see.

To be honest, I think a lot of this is coming from the excitement of having passed L2. Within a few days, we all would be away from the books and then come November/December we will start reading since the feel/tension of the exam sets in :) But I agree, for now enjoy life!

If you’re really desperate to start then I think the behavioural finance is good soft reading that you can sink your teeth into. Don’t feel like you need to master anything, because it’s subjective and sorta BS, but it’s almost like reading a book. You just wanna get a feel for it for now.

for some reason i feel like i want to start reading soon. i know that that’s a bad idea though
Will probably start doing a few hours on weekdays in october and hope to have a full read through done by January then start proper 15-20 hours a week in Jan through until the exam.
will wait until the cfai books arrive to make the call on how long it will take for a full read through. i hear that there’s less material than L2 and this year there are 8 less readings.
any views from 2013 candidates on how many hours a full read through of the CFAI text or schweser would take for an average candidate?
i suggest glancing over the materials once very quickly, even just the topics or end of chapters summery to give yourself a mental preparation.
good shout, I had a quick skim and will probably start the behavioural finance reading in November.
…now to ween myself off this place.

Anyone take any of the mocks yet??
joking….
please all, enjoy your summer - you’ve earned it

October 1 to 1st week of Jan is a fine time to start. I don’t think it matters too too much.

I’m thinking I’ll start a casual read through as soon as I finish my current book plus the one I’ve got on queue. And by casual read through, I might get through the LOS 1.a by Christmas.
