For those of you who are taking the Dec 06 exam, what have you covered so far? and what are you covering currently?

I've covered everything except quant and ethics. I just got those books. After I'm done I'll start again. Then again. Then Schweser.

Kill, you remind me of James (took L1 in '06; that's a compliment)

I've read all of the CFA books and now I'm on Book 1 again. I have been reading the CFA books, then Stalla (started around SS11 with Stalla) and now I've started all over again and am on SS3 (Quant 2). I plan on taking a max of 2 weeks on econ, then about 4 more weeks on FSA, then 2 months of review and testing. Therefore a majority of the largest weighted topics will be read through at least twice before the exam. Reading the second time through is much easier than the first, especially when you don't stop and do all the CFA examples and end of reading problems...saving all those for review time :). I think that I'll be pretty well prepared by Dec with Peter Olinto lecturing me away.

I recommend that if you are doing lectures dont skip lectures just because you know the material or its easy, it is good reinforcement.

regression analysis (tomorrow statistics is over)....on thursday starting FSA...slowly, but confidently

you guys are amazing... I just started FSA but not yet confident with my Ethics and Quant. Hope I'm not the only one that needs to catch up...

goodluck guys! =)

just finished FSA and about to start on corporate finance. It'll probably take about 2 days to review since I have studied it before.

2 days to read 6 chapters?? Wow..

I'm seriously slacking. It takes me at least a week per book even though I aced all of these classes -- well except econ (boring!!!). It took me two weeks to get thru quant probably because I kept cross-referencing with other material.

CFAMontreal, so your skipping Econ for now, since you're going from Quant to FSA? I'm also doing Regression today and will start Econ probably this weekend. I'll take Friday off and maybe do some Quant review on Thursday.

A little tip, even though I have not taken the test yet, would be to review what you have done when you finish each section and also to do a quick review test on the sections you have already covered. So for instance if you have already finished Ethics, Quant, and Econ it would be beneficial to say go back and do a few random questions from each section to keep the concepts "fresh" in your head.

It's the little details that like to be pushed out of your brain by the bigger details especialy the longer you go from reading the section. Just my .02.

done ethics and quant, including answering questions with full confidence. I still feel a little behind. I plan to be done by Nov. 1 which leaves me a month for practice quasions/exams/review. As soon as I got my books, work bumped my hours to about 60/week which made me a little slow with studying. Does anyone with a finance backround feel as though the material is just review and they are not really learning anything new? I keep telling myself it is harder than it seems because I have read the actual exam questions are more difficult than expected. I am trying not to be too confident.

bigwilly, yes, you are right, I am skipping Economics, my strengths (kinda, as last test results showed to my surprise)....and focusing on strengthening my averages (Quant.FSA) and rehabilitating my weaknesses (Derivatives and FI)

good luck in your studies ;)

Most of the material is a review if you have a finance background, but its just those darn little details where I'm afraid they will test me on and I will fail due to those damn little pesky details. A lot of the concepts I know or once knew ;). Some of the material is completely new, but most of it I reviewed once before.

well, bigwilly, I had some sort of idea about CFA exam like you have before last June exam...yes, it is a review, I have studied it before(MBA in finances) etc.etc...so I took it easy for myself...and failed the exam. I understood that the specifics are tested, it is far not enough to know material in general unless you are working with it every day...so this time I am trying harder...and I must say I am discovering things in a quite new way I never thought about or finally I understand some incomprhendible things etc. I am also studying already now for Level II to be taken in June 07. I won't have time to study again Level I concepts while preparing for Level II exam (hopefully soon).

Take care

I feel the same way. Most of the time I feel like I'm wasting time with all the reading. I thought about just studying the Schweser review books and ethics. But our finance club has made a big deal about me passing a treasury exam on the first try that I'd feel like a failure if I screw up on the exam that actually counts.

Finished with Ethics and the first part of Quant Methods and trying to get through the 2nd part before I leave for a short vacation tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to hit the books even while on the beach because I want to be done with Ethics, Quant and Econ by September 1st.

I just finished FSA and mid way through quants, mid-way through corpfin, midway through econs, mid way through derivatives, finished ethics.
No break for me, just crunching till i kill cfa da monster, i heard and now know.
Spoleto.
