Peter Taylor, a CFA charterholder and an analyst for a large investment firm, has been offered an all expense paid trip by Sweet Pineapple Co. to visit the firm's processing plants in Maui,Oahu, and Kauai.Taylor,a food industry analyst, has been following Sweet's stock for several years and recently issued a "Buy" recommendation on the stock. Taylor believes a review of the firm's processing facilities during its busy January harvest period would be an excellent opportunity for firm to assess the firm's productive capacity and learn even more about their business. According to Standard I(B)-Independence and Objectivity, it is recommended that .Taylor"

A. Pay for his air travel and hotel expenses

B. Obtain written permission from his employer before he accept this offer

C. Accept the expense-paid trip if he discloses the value of the trip in his next report

D.Pay for all his travel expenses, including the cost of meals and incidental items

A. Because the destination is a popular resort and not some obscure hard to get to place, an all expense trip to such an exotic local could be misconstrued and having influence on the analyst to keep a buy recommendation on the stock even though it may not be a suitable recommendation going forward. I say the answer is A.

Why the ans can not be D ? meal can be expensive

A. I was torn between A or D, but I don't like, "including the cost of meals", b/c what if while he is at the plant they offer him lunch at the plant?? Maybe I'm reading into it too much which I tend to do, but I say A.

Hi, all!

I think it's A.

CFAI says:

"Restrict special cost arrangements
When attending meetings at an issuers
headquarters,

members or candidates should pay for commercial transportation and hotel charges.

No corporate issuer should reimburse members
or candidates for air transportation. Members and candidates should
encourage issuers to limit the use of corporate aircraft to situations in
which commercial transportation is not available or in which efficient
movement could not otherwise be arranged. Members and candidates
should take particular care that when frequent meetings are held between
an individual issuer and an individual member or candidate, the issuer
should not always host the member or candidate."
