Been working for about a year and wondering if it’s worth taking the GMAT, which would require 6-7 months of prep or to go ahead and start on the CFA.

what is it you want to do? they can lead to very different paths. you are probably too early for an MBA

Probably the best initials you can pursue at this point in your career is the coveted J.O.B., or E.X.P.E.R.I.E.N.C.E.

2-3 months max.
How about save yourself some cash and get a job, work hard, get experience, and do the CFA exams, CPA exam if you want to work in finance or accounting, respectively.
The whole idea of business school is nonsense. Business cannot be taught in a classroom. Finance, econcomics, accounting are all diciplines that can be taught in a classroom, but business cannot. Specialize in one of these or just focus on getting a JOB.

I finished both. Both are independent, you can take them at the same time if you like.

The OP said he is working.
To OP, do whatever you want to do no one is stopping you.

Someone’s reading comprehension is lacking. Thanks for the input though.
I gotta admit. I barely read your post. I’ll try harder next time.
Last thing I need is another fucking try hard

Agreed, but you miss the point.
.
If your goal is merely to learn rather than to launch a career, then agreed that an MBA is not the way to go.
.
However, if you’re pursuing a lucrative career in finance, the most direct way to launch yourself into a prestigious six-figure finance job is to do an MBA from Chicago, Columbia, MIT, etc and land an associate position through on-campus recruiting.
