Dilllon, an analyst in the corporate finance department of an investment service firm ,is making a presentation to potential new business client that includes the promise that her firm will provide full research coverage of the potential client??

I am not quite understand the meaning about the "full research coverage "

the standard book say , he violated the "professional standard of independent and objectiveness ". why???

Dillon has promised that if the potential client directs investment banking business to him, his firm will pick up research coverage. In this context, "full research coverage" means assigning an analyst or analysts to produce research reports on the potential client's stock and/or fixed income securities.

Dillon, in his role as an investment banker, is not supposed to be involved in the decision on whether to provide research coverage and certainly should not be able to influence this decision based on whether the potential client gives the firm investment banking business.

Still ,I don't understand it thoroughly. why Dillon violated the standard of " independent and objectiveness" , but not the standard of "misrepresentation"??
