Wow, this guy is the douche bag of the year. Transparency is an admirable goal, but that doesn't mean it's right to steal a bunch of trade secrets from companies.
 
I'm not sure he stole (it was probably given to him) it but he is selling it. You're crazy if you think he isn't making money.
 
Fair enough. But along those lines, he probably bought the stolen information to begin with.

It is the company's responsibility to protect the trade secret. Trade secrets are lawfully reverse-engineerable, for instance, and once the cat's out of the bag, the protection is over.

I also doubt Assange or Wikileaks are explicitly paying for this information. That'd be espionage (industrial or vanilla), and easily enforceable.

Why would someone leak information from BAC and give it to WikiLeaks if they were not being paid?

Maybe for wanting to do the right thing in life?

(there is more then money after all in life)
 
But it's not the right thing to steal 5 GB of hard drive information from a company executive.
 
It is kinda entertaining. Like reading gossip on foreign policy.
