Hi all,

I'm applying for MBAs in the UK at present and want to switch careers from scientific biology research to healthcare IB, pharma ER, S&T or healthcare PE/VC.

I'm not in a position to leave the UK. I will apply to London Business School and hope to get an offer.

I'm wondering if any of the other MBA schools in the UK will give me a realistic chance of working in the field I want to post MBA.

Oxford is rated 2nd best. But I get the impression it will not give me the same opportunities.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

why don't you focus on getting in first? opportunities to enter banking are fine at either school if you are good.

how is said business school? their MBA program is shorter than the traditional 2 yr program am i right?

If you decide to stay in England, then the LBS MBA programme is the one to go for.

If they do well, prepare quality graduates and co-ordinate with the other academic departments of the university they should be able to earn the respect of Oxford alumni and the city generally. That would help the school develop a strong placement and alumni achievement record over the long term.

I agree with your sentiments that it probably isn't a better choice then LBS, or top US schools (i.e. HBS, Wharton, Columbia & Chicago, etc...) for IB.

LBS might be a good choice as you will be able to take an internship. It is a two year programme though.

Probably not. You need to pick up a grammar book first. You should realize that you are interested in "an" IB job, not "a" IB job.

Cheers,
