Hi All,

I have a query about the withdrawal option given by CFA Institute. They are giving this option to withdraw the canditature from one particular examination without reutining the enrollment fees. Now I want to know if someone fails in that attempt then obviously it will come on his record. How costly is it to fail(nobody would like to ..but just in case) in any of the level or withdrawal is better considering one's confidence? How important are the number of attempts taken to clear an exam?

May sound a weird quetion...just wanted to know about this....

Thanks

I think it's completely crazy to withdraw once you've paid. There is no subsitute in terms of preparing you for eventually passing than to sit throw the test and have it rip your guts out (lots of people who pass feel that way when they take it). Very, very few people pass on their first three tries to begin with, and you more than three months to go, assumming you're going for Level I in Dec. And you'd be a rare person if you gain more time to study as you get older. Suck it up and show up unless you have a serious personal emergency.

Maybe for level one but sitting through the exam just to sit for it is a waste at the other levels.

I disagree completely, worse case scenario you know what to expect for next year and gain comfort with the test center. Best case you get a bit lucky (as long as some prep was involved). Besides, there is no negative at all to failing, you're not technically even allowed to report going "3/3" or anything like that.
