Is anyone able to view the Level 3 2013 LOS on the website? I can view the LOS for Dec L1 but not for Jun 2013 any levels. I needed to compare 2012 to 2013.

I’m in the same boat. I need to know if I can use last year’s study material for this year’s test.
I could see the study sessions online, and the only one that seemed to change was Corporate Governance. It has been changed to Corporate Governance and Ethics or something like that.
As far as the actual LOSs go, I cannot see them for any level of the 2013 tests.

Yup, Corp Finance in level 3 seems to have changed. Also, readings 32 and 33 are missing from SS 13 so cant say if they have changed. I called up CFAI and the guy seemed to think that we cannot view the LOS without registering. I tried to explain to him, but to no avail.
Anyone has the comparison between 2012 & 2013? I know finquiz used to have them, but cant find it.

I’m a registered candidate for lvl3 2013 and I can’t see the detailed LOS yet.
I noticed Economics changed a lot for all 3 levels. Alternative Investment also

I got my curriculum in the mail today for 2013 Level 3. I am currently going through it to see how the material has changed. Stay tuned.
Just like always, there are small wording changes. (e.g. “Explain the differences” becomes “discuss the differences”) I assume that these are more or less the same, and I will only try to post the ones that change substantially.
These are the LOS’s that have changed, and their new wording.
2013 LOS
2.6.b - determine whether an asset manager’s practices and procedures are consistent with the Asset Manager Code;
3.9.d - is omitted from the 2013 curriculum.
SS 12, Reading 28 has changed completely. It is now called “Corporate Performance, Governance, and Business Ethics”.
12.28.a - compare interests of key stakeholder groups and explain the purpose of a stakeholder impact analysis.
12.28.b - discuss problems that can arise in principal-agent relationships and mechanisms that may mitigate such problems.
12.28.c - discuss roots of unethical behavior and how managers might ensure that ethical issues are considered in business decision making.
12.28.d - compare the Friedman doctrine, Utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, and Rights and Justice theories as approaches to ethical decision making.

It seems that other than the one reading, Reading 12, the curriculum is 99.9% the same.

thanks guys, and ddrobinett in particular. I’ve been looking for the same.
I explained the SS missing pages problem to CFAI and they’ve updated it. Take a look if you’re still interested

It would not be a bad thing if they rewrote economics for 2013. It was probably one of the most poorly written SSs.

I got the books yesterday. Feels much ligher the lvl2 set.
I don’t like the new font size, too small for comfortable reading from a distance. Anyone thinks the same?
Also, the full LOS is not provided in a separate pdf only the headings.

I emailed CFAI a several days ago and told them they only had the outline not the LOS on their website. They said they would correct. Hoperfully they will finish it soon.
I am also waiting on finquiz, they usually do the comparison pretty well.
Passing Score Finance also does one in a PDF format there is not complete either ( www.passingscorefinance.com)

The good news is that they barely changed the curriculum. They changed LOS 6.b to “determine whether an asset manager’s practices and procedures are consistent with the Asset Manager Code” from “interpret the Asset Manager Code in situations that present issues of compliance, disclosure, or professional conduct.”
The only large change was reading 28, the corporate governance reading within the equity section. The revised reading is still on corporate governance, but you no longer need to know the Cadbury Report. Instead, you have to know the Friedman doctrine, Utilitarianism, Kantian Ethics, and Rights and Justice Theories. Other than that, the reading is the same as 2012.
All of the other LOS’s stayed the same (a couple LOS’s had wording changes, but they were the same topic as 2012).
In other words, the curriculumn is pretty much the same, so if we get bad news on Tuesday, we do not need to repurcahse a new set of Schweser books.

Sometimes I wonder, what is their logic of changing small wordings such as “define or determine” to “explain or calculate”. Seems they like us to know things in detail. But, often changes in these action verbs are vague and can’t make much on why they are making these changes. Or is there something, I’m missing about the “small wording changes”?

Guys, keep hearing that these key words do make a difference in the scoring of essays. Would someone know, if the institute has some guideline on this OR is there a good link that can be used?
