Failed L3 band 10 in June and REALLY having trouble getting motivated for second go at it. Also, just had a kid which doesn’t help w/ study time. Point being, I haven’t started studying yet for my second round of L3. Probably won’t really hit it hard till Dec 1. Anyone else not studying yet for L3?

Congrats! you should really start studying tho cause it’s only gonna get harder with the kid

Dont tell bad at all, I am writing L3 for the 4th time. Last year I failed band 6.
I wont be hitting the books until March.
Hope that makes you feel better.

I’ve got the FRM part 1 next week, then a couple of weeks away on a sunny beach in Thailand so wont be starting until mid December - and even then I guess only slowly with Christmas time and all the drinking/eating/partying that has to be done…
So realistically it’ll be early Jan before I hit the books proper…hoping that will give me enough time.

Same here! Schweser just started shipping; I’ll wait until I get my hands on those books, and probably start gradually in December…and then pick up the pace in Jan. Anyone else with the same strategy?

Not me. Nor Charlie Sheen.

Yes me too, also first Christmas, Thailand for two weeks and start studying. For Level I and II I basically went to shitload of exam questions, any idea what the best approach is for Level III. Somebody doing it for the second time?
Thanks,

Maybe that’s why you are writing level 3 for the 4th time?
Start early and have leave no regrets.

i always start january. pointless to start studying during holidays. LIVE LIFE.

Read 30 pages in 2 weeks.
Can’t pick up momentum. Will probably start hitting it proper by the start of December.

Took Level III for the first time in 2014. Failed. Studied in 2015 but had to drop a few weeks before the exam for personal reasons.
Decided to go back to it as early as possible this year but so far have not been doing much… Weirdly enough I don’t really find it easiers as years go by…

i had started studying for level 1 in Feb and for level 2 around Sept-Oct. I passed both at first attempt. For level 2, I studied at least twice as much as I did for level 1. but after the exam, especially after i learnt that i passed despite failing in 3 topics (for which i am sure i spared at least 100 hours), i thought i did not really need to study that hard for level 2. so i do not want to make the same mistake this year when preparing for elvel 3. i am not sure if L3 is harder or easier than level 2 - if it is harder my strategy will turn out to be wrong but if it is similar to level 2 i believe i will be fine if i start studying in January.Still would like to know if there are people who think L3 is significantly harder than L2.

Hi,
I think it really varies from a person to another. I had not heard Level III was that hard and so when I started studying I was quite confident. And then I got totally overwhelmed.
I passed 1 and 2 at first attempt within 6 months (i mean level i in December and Level II 6-month later in June) and it was quite a lot of studying but I felt I mastered the situation more or less. Each time I went to the exam knowing I had a good chance to pass, and at the end of each I felt I had done well.
I took Level III in 2014, felt overwhelmed all the way, failed, studied again (lot’s) in 2015, had to drop a few weeks before the exam for personal reasons but still, I felt like nothing was under control anyways. The content of the exam is very qualitative, requires a lot of concentration to study (I consider myself having concentration issues). I find it hard to motivate myself to do some exercises and to judge how well I did after each exercise because comparing your answer to the one provided is always pretty subjective when it’s not about checking boxes. I am still feeling very unsecure for the next attempt. I don’t know how to gain back confidence.
Just my experience…
