I went through sort of a rough patch in my younger years where I got arrested and charged with several misdemeanors (non had anything to do with anything that might jeapordize my professional or ethical credibility). The charges were eventually reduced and sealed. As far as I know, these arrests and charges can still be seen on a background check even though I have no actual criminal record or convitions. Most major firms do extensive background checks and ask you to disclose this stuff on applications. These blackmarks do not reflect the person that I am today. Has anyone experienced a similar situation and what do you do in the case of disclosing these during the interview process and on applications?
