HP or TI

TI, because it has more functionality, is cheaper and is easier to use/understand. Everyone says the HP is easy to use once you understand RPN, but with the TI there's no need to learn whatever RPN is. HP is also 20 years and I can't believe people are still buying it.

exemplaria: I bought the TI BA II Professional and somehow I have to "2nd-Reset-Enter-Enter" after I finish each question, otherwise it won't give the correct answer. Would you know how I can fix that? Is anyone else having the same problem? My P/Y setting is already at 1......... any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You are restoring the factory defaults. The factory default for P/Y is 12. Make sure you're not in BGN mode (letters BGN will appear in upper right of screen) and make sure C/Y = 1 as well (this is in the same menu as P/Y, just hit up or down). Aside from that you'll have to give me an example of what is going wrong before I can tell you anything.

I wasn't in BEG mode, and even after I Reset it, P/Y and C/Y still remain at 1. I've tried this many many times - unless I Reset after each and every question, it won't give me the correct answer!
eg. I first calculate: N=4, I/Y=9, PMT=-100, CPT>PV.... PV = 323.97 (this is the correct answer)

Then calculate WITHOUT resetting: N=2, I/Y=9, FV=-323.97, CPT>PV..... PV =448.59 (this is wrong - right answer is 272.68. But if I Reset then calculate this same question, I get the right answer 272.68)

Thanks.

UIFinance: 2nd clr tvm fixed the problem! Thanks! But does it mean I have to 2nd clr tvm after every question?

You do have to clear tvm and worksheet after each use. Otherwise, the calculated value is still there and used as input for the next calculation.

BUy the TI if you are using the Schweser Notes as it has key stroke guide for TI, I suggest TI Professional as it allow you to calculate NFV (Net Future Value). The ususal TI only calculate NPV, for FV you must re-enter the data. NFV function on TI professional can save you time in calculating NFV.

No doubt this has been posted in the forum before. But here it is again.
