I am taking the CFA level 1 exam in June. I am using Kaplan to study. My plan was to read 25 pages a day and get done with all 5 books by the end of February maybe mid March the latest. For the last 3 months do practice questions, review my notes, and EOC questions.
I am currently about half way through the first book. Some chapters introduce 10 formulas so when I take the concept checker (Kaplan quiz in the book) I sometimes forget the formulas. However when I review the formula I get how it works. Should I keep on reading and make flash cards for the formulas and review a certain amount of formulas everyday on top of reading 25 pages everyday while taking notes? I also learn best by taking practice questions.

I’d be interested to hear people’s response to this as well. Seems to be my exact plan as well - although I am definitely going to make formula flash cards when I’m doing EOC/mocks/topic tests/Q bank questions at the end as it will be easier to identify the formulas needed to answer the questions. In terms of notes, Schweser is pretty condensed as is so my notes are just highlights and little notes on the margins of the books rather than full fledged notes.

seems like a good plan. I might take a day off somewhere in between and then get back at it hard the next day.
flashcards/practice problems are the best way for me to re-inforce concepts as well. goodluck!

You will leve a lot of time for review and practice. I would maybe ease the schedule and make it more tight so you keep as much as possible in your short term memory. Re formulas don’t panick. You will not be able to remember all of them in the exam day. Flash cards and cheat sheets for review are good and the only remaining tool for the formulas study.
I used TimePrep for iPhone for organizing my study. I selected (as study elements): theory review, Mock exams and solving practice problems after all readings are done, so it left me a plenty of time for the revision of study materials and solving practice problems and Mocks. It helped a lot in my study planning.

So are you saying read it at a slower pace? I am only doing 25 pages a day. I also take one day out of the week to re try the exercises that I did for the week. Would you make flash cards only for the formulas or for the definitions too?

I’m just saying that 3 months revision is a lot. I don’t think you need to memorize definitions - try to understand them. You should memorize formulas - use flascards or notes for review.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I’ll adjust my study path a little. I was trying to get through the reading at that speed because I learn best by doing practice questions. I wanted to make sure I had enough time to do all of them.
