Passed Level I in Dec shooting for Level II in June

I just found I passed Level I and I really would like to aim to hit Level II in June. I am a little worried that I am in way over my head. I do work full time, but there is not reason why I couldn’t put 2 hours a day in reading and studying 8 hours a day on Sat and Sunday. I know some of you have done this and passed.
  • Looking for any words of wisdom?
  • Study schedule?
  • Areas where I MUST read the curriculum and other areas where I can rely on Schweser only?
  • How you passed and what you think made you successful?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am in the same boat. Hoping for the best, I actually preemptively registered for a prep class that the began the second week of January and have been busy studying since then (through the quant section and ethics section and onto portfolio management). My objective is similar to yours. Study a couple of hours each day, take the prep class each week and more study on the weekends. From about April 15th onwards, I plan on spending most of my time taking and reviewing practice tests. The teacher in my CFA prep class suggests taking a minimum of 10 complete (morning and afternoon session) practice test ahead of the Level II. He is pretty well respected, so I will listen and attempt to do so.

I, too, have passed level 1. But has not started preparation. I will start preparation from tomorrow. I want to finish the material by march and in April and May i want to revise and practice. Please guide me as i have time to preapare.
 
Same here. I am debating about register for prep class, which will start on 1/28. I am not in NYC, the local CFA instructor may not worth the money.

I believe I am also in the same class as you. Welcome aboard. Are you primarily reading Schweser or are you also reviewing CFAI material?
 
I am in the same position as everyone here. I did not purchase any study programs to pass Level I. I will definitely need to buy a program for Level II. Is Schweser far and away the best? Reading through some of the other threads, people seem to like Elan Guides, but they don’t have a question bank. Allen Resources doesn’t require you to pay unless you pass and they have a huge question bank…any feedback on Allen Resources? Thanks in advance for the help.
 
I am in the same boat, except I already purchased Schweser guides and I’ve finished 1 of the five books (Ethics, Quant, Econ) already. It’s doable, but it’s going to be a ton of work and a strict schedule is necessary. Good luck to everyone

I can say from past experience, I was in your same exact situation. I took Lv1 dec 2010, and then Lv2 june 2011. thankfully I got a pass.
It is possible, cuz many people have done it. I started studying right after superbowl weekend. I read through schweser and then read through CFAI text by may. Last month I did mock / questions / reviewed.
I found myself very very tired the week before the exam. I was almost to the point where I couldnt even read anymore. I ended uo taking 4 days off before the exam and just chilled. It worked.
So know that ur gonna get burnt out. It alot of material to cover in short span of time. Stick through it and rest couple days before exam.
 
I can’t decide if I should pursue the level II. I just found out I passed level I and wasn’t even considering taking level II until next year. After talking to other people I am now debating whether I should go for it this year. Is it possible to get enough studying in 129 days while working full time? How many hours should you put into studying? I really want to do it but I don’t know if I’m ready to put myself through the stress of cramming again. I started late for level I as well and was really burnt out by the end. Please give me some advice!
 
This question is asked multiple times in the forum in multiple threads. The gist of it is that of course you can do it if you dedicate the time, people have done it with at least as much going on. I was originally in the same boat in that I was thinking I didn’t want to cram the harder material in a shorter time, but the people I’ve spoken to in person say that I should take the exam right away while the material is (relatively) fresh in my head, as opposed to waiting a year.

Same situation on my end, but my deciding factor was “what do I have to lose?”
If I fail level II in June, I have to wait until 2013 to try again. Sure I’m out the cost of registration, but from a time standpoint I am no worse off than if I waited. And I will probably have an easier time in 2013 if I fail as opposed to waiting because it will be my second time looking at the material. If I am fortunate enough to pass, I am a year ahead. Why not just go for it, your charter doesn’t say how many attempts it takes to pass, you either get it our you don’t.
 
this is my exact plan.. im soaking in the level 1 pass until super bowl… hoping for a big Pats win… and then i’ll get after ittrying to push through schweser readings by mid april and have about 5 or so weeks for CFA problems and mock tests
 
you lose nothing much, just 4 months of your time lol.
They say time is precious but is it as precious as a level 2 exam?? heh
 
Has anyone here tried registration for level 2 today? It seems as if the link on the site is not working.
 
I was able to register earlier today on the CFA Institute site.
 
I registered for Level II today and I also ordered Schweser. I wonder if it will be any different after they merged with Stalla. Should I expect the same type of “tricky-ish” questions that I saw with some Level I questions with Level II or is the material more difficult so the level of trickery is brought down a notch
 
I am on the cfainstitute.org website but when i click the “Enroll in the CFA Program and/or register for a CFA exam*” link it takes me to “Account Home” and not registration. There are sections for Profile, CIPM Program, Membership but no links for the actual registration.
 
Should we form a google group? It seems like most of us passed level1 in Dec and shoot for level2 in 4 months.
