Passed.
40/60/80 composite score was 70%
Everyone post your result and your 40/60/80 score. I want to get a feel for the required passing score. I think I was very close to the mason/dixon.
For all of those discouraged by your results, I’m 35 years old and in the finance industry. I waited a long time between level 1 and level 2. Failed level 2 once and overslept another time because I made the awful mistake of trying to cram the night before the test. Promised myself that I’d walk away from the test, but as more people have the accredidation, the more common place it has become as a requirement. I’ve got three kids and I’ve done very well for myself, but when I look for positions, lack of CFA kind of stands out like a sore thumb (I don’t have a graduate degree). Moral of the story, if you love finance and don’t want a graduate degree, suck it up and take the tests. It only gets harder as you get older. I wish I spent a week as my 35 year old self when I was 25. It would have made me appreciate how much freedom and time I had to myself.

I don’t know the methodology, but I went to 300 Hours and put in some figures and got 66% and passed. And I’ve seen lower matricies than mine pass as well. I think the info (40/60/80) is ok on a real high level, but I don’t know if I’d put a huge emphasis on the data, considering you already know if you passed or not. My two cents, however, feel free to disregard.

  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 73%
  • Your minimum score is: 65%
  • Your maximum score is: 90%
This was a pass. <50 Ethics. 51-70 Deriv, PM. >70 rest.

Passed – and my 40/60/80 score was 62% (minimum = 46.7%, maximum = 75%).
I have a feeling that my <=50% areas were closer to 50%, while my >70% areas were quite high.

passed and:
According to 300 hours:
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 65%
  • Your minimum score is: 55%
  • Your maximum score is: 77.5%

Here’s my breakdown.
450+ hours starting in October, studied close to two hours a day with a two week break beginning in April. Wrote 12 mocks
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 74%
  • Your minimum score is: 67.5%
  • Your maximum score is: 90.8%

Here you go:
FRA, econ, PM > 70%, Quant < 50%, other sections 50-70%. My guess is that my scores for the sections in the 50-70% range were on the higher end.
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 65%
  • Your minimum score is: 60%
  • Your maximum score is: 75.8%

Still don’t really believe that I passed. Happy to see many of the regular posters did so well. Mostly lurked the past few months but you all deserved a pass. Kept me motivated seeing others so dedicated. Nice work.
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 71%
  • Your minimum score is: 63.3%
  • Your maximum score is: 86.7%

According to 300 Hours
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 79%
  • Your minimum score is: 74.2%
  • Your maximum score is: 98.3%

The way to calculate this is to first look at your performance matrix.. For each section look at the points and divide by 3 (18 points = 6 questions).. If you got 51%-70% then your score MUST be 4/6.. In the sections with 72 points = 24 questions.. 51%-70% MUST BE 13-16/24..
Its not possible to score “30%, 60%, 80%” in any section because its not divisible the possibilities 6/12/18/24 questions per topic
IMO its mor e interesting to see the MIN possible score.. In my case I passed with MIN 82/120 68.3%.. Probably a bit higher

According to 300 hours
  • Your 40/60/80 score is: 76%
  • Your minimum score is: 69.2%
  • Your maximum score is: 94.2%
I messed up the smallest sections

Passed and my 40/68/80 score is 72%. Failed band 9 last year but only had 4 months to study. Studied about 250 hours with CFAI material this time and wrote 1 mock exam.

I used your method to calculate my minimum possible score since most of my results fell in the 51%-70% which is 4/6 questions per set.
I then used 0% as the minimum for 2 of the sections that fell in the <=50% range and also 5/6 questions which is the minimum for the >70% range and determined that my overall minimum score should be 64%.
Now, I don’t think I scored 0% for 2 sections. If I bump up these to 1/6, then I shoud be around 66%.
You’re telling me I failed with a 66% possible score???

The lowest MAX passing score is also interesting to extrapolate the MPS..

Mine got in at 66%. Min:59, Max:78
A hockey analogy would be a goal granted upon video review, scored off a deflection while being cross-checked in front of the net. Not exactly the one-timer from the blue line.
…maybe I should watch less hockey during L3.
