Question about Elan Guides

hey, beatthecfa and jay335 the 40% discount for candidates retaking the exam is available on all of their products. I have received my books and I have started studying. The books look great even visually.

Can you please share your views on the Eleventh Hr Bk. I want to purchase a review book and want to decide between this bk and the secret sauce.

By next week, I will have read all the CFA Institute material. So my objective was to find a good review guide that I could go over the next 2 months, and a couple mock exams beyond what CFA offered to prepare myself for exam day.

After comparing both Schweser and Elan, I think I'm going going with the Elan Wildcard pack combo of the Eleventh Hour Review Guide and 2 mock exams for $70 compared to the Schweser Secret Sauce ($100) and practice exams ($150 for 3 exams) which would total $250 and have just one more mock exam.

I know Schweser is very reputable, but I can't justify paying $180 more for a similar product that Elan provides after paying over $1000 to CFA Institute take the exam. I'm trying to avoid having to go thru all of the texts and write down what I want to review, I'd rather run thru the Eleventh Hour guide and use my own notes for stuff not included.

I'll also download the Elan formula sheets and use what I'm buying for $70 to review, and I can always look in the CFA books if I want.

Call me a cheap-ass, but Schweser and Stalla seem waaaaay overpriced.

You might be a cheap-ass (so am I BTW) but you're definitely making the right call.

Eleventh Hour Book is better than the Secret Sauce irrespective of the price.

I'm glad I reconsidered and fortunate they offer that combo, bc originally I was going with SS. Elan seems like quality stuff from what I've gathered from their freebies, which will definitely be competition for the inflated prices of Schweser etc as many folks have commented earlier.

Thank you all for your input. I have just ordered their wildcard pack.

Can anyone share their opinion of Elan's videos? How do they compare with those of other providers'?

I've watched a couple of them and they seem to be helpful to nail down a concept. They are a little long so just make sure you have caffeine handy.

They're more detailed than those provided by other companies. This might make them boring to some. On the flip side, others find them very useful.

Why don't you just check out their samples?

I've already seen quite a few of their samples actually. I like them but I wanted to hear some thoughts regarding how their lecture videos compare with Schweser's and Stalla's before I decide whom to go with.
