Schweser Videos WTF?!!!

Anyone else ‘enjoying’ the new video player Schweser introduced? The slides are about 5 minutes ahead of what the instructor is discussing. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. What a piece of garbage. Why would they make this change half way until the exam? morons.
 
Spoke to tech support. They said that the decision for the new video provider was made without the input of the tech team…brilliant. They acknowledged that the Forward/Backward functionality no longer exists and also agreed that when you pause the video the slides continue progressing. They said that they’re sticking with KapX and apologized for the inconvenience.
They also encourage everyone to submit feedback through schweser.com. Go to contact and fill out the “general” feedback form. Sounds like their tech support was as p****d off as I am. Several of the videos are virtually useless. I said as much in my feedback and demanded a refund.
 
Wow they couldn’t wait til mid-June to test a new supplier?
 
Oh wow, I literally came on here to post about this. It’s a disgrace and Tech support are keen to dissociate themselves from any of the changes.
Changing up a working system right in the thick of the revision phase is absolutely stupid. The only advantage is it now works oh iPhones (it already worked on iPads), but it worked anyway on iPhone through Puffin browser which their tech recommended to anyone who asked.
I don’t want to get unduly sidetracked during the revision phase so am not going to waste too much time on this, but if this thread gathers any momentum I’d be happy to pass it on to Schweser to hopefully push them to improve the service. For me it’s not just a minor inconvience, the new provider is some shoddy 3rd party software called AppSpot which is blocked by my company’s IT system.
Let me paste verbatim the exchange with tech support:

I believe you have changed the video content provider to some sort of in-house tool linked to appspot.com without any notice to your customers, during one of the critical phases of the CFA revision Period.
A - The app performs terribly on mobile devices, the slides are out of sync with audio, the formatting of the slides is jumbled to the point it’s difficult to follow what’s going in, it strangely allows for full screen of the video but not the presentation itself.
B) The intercall app on Ipad worked pretty well already, as did the browser view on Windows/Mac. I was also previously able to succesfully view on iPhones using Puffin browser as per tech recommendations.
C) Thousands of your candidates work at financial institutions and use their work computers to study. APPSPOT is quite obviously going to be blocked by most companies and therefore it’s very inconvenient to change so suddenly.
Please confirm how you will be rectifying this as I am a paying customer and this has really disrupted my study plans.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Schweser Technical Support. The videos in your course have been recently updated to a new video provider called KapX. There are some changes in this provider from the prior one so we understand your email.
If you are having an issue with the seek bar used to advance or go back in your video, issues with the slides, or syncing, we have already notified our development team to look into this. Unfortunately we have not been give an estimated time for this to be resolved and recommend you keep checking.
The issue with the slides and the video screen being smaller than before are native to the KapX platform. In addition, the “Previous” and “Next” buttons that had accompanied the videos are no longer there as KapX relies on the scroll bar for progressing within the video. The video also doesn’t show how much time is remaining in the video with this new provider. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
Unfortunately, the Technical Support department was not a part of the decision to change providers and are unable to add the features you would like back. If you are unhappy with the new video provider, we would suggest you go to the Schweser website and give your feedback. On the Schweser home page, please click “Contact” at the top of the screen. There will be a form that you can fill out to give your feedback. Please select “General” as the nature of your feedback to make sure it gets to the correct department and state that you have contacted technical support about this and that they advised it isn’t a technical issue but limitations of the KapX platform.

Wait.. so i can use my iphone now to watch these videos? Do i just go to the website? Sorry - my office gives my cellphone no service… so can’t check now.

Yup - I mean it’s very glitchy but it does work through Safari on my iphone 6.
 
LOL you all should demand a portion of your money back or negotiate something else of value for the screw ups.
 
OMG this is annoying. Just paused the video to take notes and looked up and the slide presentation is now 3 slides ahead of the video. I sent another email demanding reimbursement for the video portion of the study package. Haven’t heard anything back yet.
 
Extremely upsetting.
… going at +100mph and Mr. Schweser crashes through my windscreen to substitute a perfectly functioning steering wheel with one that doesn’t bloody steer.
Simply unforgivable and no, getting a few quid back is not the point. What I need is for videos to work properly to maximize my chances to get that certain Charter.
What folks should demand (and I have demanded) is for Schweser to go back to Stream57 (the previous video management provider) pleading to extend the contract until June the 8th 2015.
They carried me through Level I and II and I am extremely grateful to them for this (plus how can one do not love David Hetherington) but, hey! Schweser!!, you are showing the utmost disregard for what I am trying to do here and if you think I am going to stand still, then you have another thing coming…
 
i think its better than yesterday. but another glitch says that the sound data or some s**t is not available and it freezes. Another video does not like me fast forward.
i company paid for everything.. so i did pay an extra $50 for the USB. the first one didnt work, but this one does. doesnt go full-screen, but i can at least skip slides and its the old format..

same here. unbelievable, that they have made such changes in this important period of preparation … i struggled a lot with that sh*t at the weekend!
It is not directly linked to videos but i also dislike the new learning platform as a whole.
The Schweser content really help me to get on with most of the topics but in terms of technical usability in my opinion there still is some scope for improvements.
While technically struggling with the schweser videos i have looked into the Wiley Elan guides. The Wiley platform currently seems to be more “state of the art” at first glance. I only refer to the technical stuff, cannot judge the content itself.
Hopefully Schweser will fix this inconvenience immediately so that i do not have to waste any further thoughts of any other Level II providers and get me back on track!
 
I’m watching the L3 on iphone using Puffin browser (slight cost). And I don’t see the issues that you are referring to. The audio and the slides are in sync for sure. I happen to not be watching the video image of the instructor.
Also, I’m watching the replay and not the live class.
 
I got an email from the support a few hours ago saying that the videos are back on the previous platform. i have just watched some FI videos … working properly so far!

That’s a relief ! Looks like our collective fury paid off…
Now I have no more excuses , time to get back to work
 
I had a similar episode with the [email protected]
I emailed them complaining and they told me they reverted the platform back to the old one.
Phew!
Now I’ve got 99 problems but videos ain’t one.
 
Got an email last night too! They’ve extened their contract with the former vidoe provider. They did the right thing! Thanks to Kaplan.
