cfeige is dead-on about that career track. i also started in a role somewhat similar to this one out of college...it certainly didnt help get me where i am today. thinking about my pathetic old boss in ops, the back office lifer that he was, used to keep me up at night. it was a life of tedious, banal and unfulfilling work, relatively little pay, micromanagement, no perks, no respect (even as head of ops at a 100 ppl hedge fund, only about 15 people even knew his name. the rest just made fun of him), no real authority, no upside...well, you get the idea.
anyway, i would not recommend making a lateral move to another back office unless there's significantly more money or some kind of opportunity to get you in front of the investment management people. the job description you posted doesnt seem to fit those criteria. you gotta realize that the experience from these back office jobs isnt going to be what gets you on the other side - it's going to be developing relationships, self-study, and actually being bright at analysis.
