Hi All,
So i’m taking my L1 on Dec 1st. I think i’ve been doing okay and i’m reasonably confident that I’l lpass, that will obvisouly be dependant on the type of questions that come up. But i’ve been consistently getting 70% in 7 6hr mock exam that i’ve taken. I have 2 more 6 hour mocks to go through. and a week left….
I’m not sure whether to continue and do L2. Or start the FRM instead? I could do L1 and L2 FRM and be chartered this time next year.
I work in Credit, essentially MO role, analysis of financial statements and structuring of billarteral and syndicated debt deals for large corporate NBFIs. I’m quite interested in moving into another risk role as I find it more interesting.
That said, the CFA is much more recognized, but I would need 4 years in an investment role before being awarded any charter. I just think that given my experience, and the way the market is going, I won’t get a investment or equity research role….
Should I take the FRM in May? Or L2 in June?
thanks for your help guys!

Will your MO experience count towards work experience with CFAI? I would bet that it would and therefore I would stick with the CFA. After you become a charterholder I believe you will be exempt from the first two levels of the PRMIA exam (there are 4) which is basically on par with the FRM. However if you are opposed to the PRMIA and you really are gung ho about doing both the FRM and CFA, and have no life lol, you could take L2 in June and the FRM in November. Good luck on L1!

Unless you have already some connection in the risk department of your company, I will go for the CFA. It is more recognised.
And like Tyler said, you can still go for the FRM level one in November (more easier than the CFA level 2 exam).

Thanks both,
I’ve decided to take a crack at the CFA L2. The schweser books are on there way…
I will probably be taking the FRM L1 in November once CFA L2 is out of the way….Fingers crossed for a few passes!!
