When Can We Discuss AM specifics?

I get we probably cannot discuss PM, because (like every other test) it’s never revealed. When can we discuss AM though? I mean they release the results, so I assume the fact it’s public knowledge means you are free to discuss. Any insight?
 
I badly want to discuss question one of essay but guess we cant until it is published officially?
 
I passed and I went with the most expensive option.
I have been dying to discuss that econ section. It looks like pretty much everyone got less than 50% there though so I feel a lot better about it now.
 
ah yes Econ, below 50% for me too…i remember seeing the section on the exam with an initial smile followed by a glance at the quesiton followed by an immediate page flip
 
I still feel that the first AM question was a bit out of left field. I thought I might have salvaged >50% on it but I didn’t and I think a lot of others found the same today.
 
Hmm, I thought I got that one right but I ended up in the 50-70% range. I don’t remember all the elements of the question other than the two calculations I used and then the conclusion I made, which was the more expensive option that was basically right on the line.

You won’t be able to discuss exam specifics… it’s not, nor will it be, public knowledge (i.e. only 2017 L3 candidates will have access to the actual 2016 a.m. exam).
 
I see a lot of emphasis on practicing lots of past CFA AM Exam questions. some claim to have solved past questions as far back as 2011, knowing fully well that the institute doesn’t release past Exam Questions at least not that i know of for level 1&2. is there an exception for the level 3 exam. i.e do they release past CFA exams for level 3?
 
Yes, they used to make the AM portion of the exam available to everyone. They have recently started restricting the AM portion of the exams to candidates only. So the test bank that they have available will be more difficult to get in the future. You can find old exam questions actually going back to 2000 if you try hard enough, or if you sign up for Levelup Bootcamp.
 
Was I the only person to score >70% on AM Econ?
I don’t remember the exam at all though.

I got >70% for Econ AM & PM and can’t believe it because they were some of the questions that haunted me most, also have had =/< 50% on Econ for all previous CFA exams! We’ll discuss when it is released I guess. Until then amigoz, well done again and all the best!!

This is exactly me, and I majored in Econ.
 
Econ AM was easily the worst performing question overall it appears. Opening question killed a lot of folks, too.
I am curious at seeing what got me so bad in the Monitor/Rebal set. I was usually strong in those questions.
 
The scoring on AM is so unpredictable, it honestly can make you wonder if they actually graded your exam. There were certain AM questions where I thought I was completely correct on…I know I was at least on the right track…and still have <50%.
Of course, we all know they are looking for very specific answers, not an understanding of the topic. Very frustrating to have mastery of a particular subject matter….and still receive lower than 50% (perhaps 0% who knows?) on your answers. Oh well.

I am in the same boat as you Topper. I came out of the AM portion of the exam feeling that in certain subjects I nailed it and ended up getting less than 50 or between 50 and 70 (Especially the last question where I felt I nailed it and only got between 50-70). I am looking forward to when they release the exam to see the template answers provided to see if I was even close.
I wish they would release a video example or something of what they are looking for in a constructive essay response. It honestly feels so subjective and when you are on the cusp of failing at Band 10 like us, it could really help (but then again that means less money for the non-profit in the long run and when you are non-profit you are actually for-profit)
 
I don’t remember the econ questions. Was there the Taylor rule because I honestly don’t remember?
But I am dying to know what the first question was. I don’t remember it but it had everyone freaking out.
I got less than 50% on both.
