Where is everybody at for the December Test?

i'm taking Dec L1. i'm halfway through quant, studying 2-3 hours a day for 4-5 days a week. right now, i only have the CFA text books.

lol @ december studying now. i'm taking the exam in june and started studying 3 weeks ago; had some medical issues which prevented me from starting earlier...thought i was going to have to sit in december but eh, i have a strong background so i'm going for it next saturday.

I am taking Level 1 in December, and am already tired of talking to people at work about the exam. For example, this one guy who began studying in August last year and passed in Dec. 07 tells me that although he aced FSA, he got less than 50% on four of the subject areas! Then after telling me I have started studying too early, he tells me he's taking Level 2 on Saturday and that he hasn't studied for it! Give me a break...

Then there's this other guy, who already is a charter holder, who tells me Level 1 is easy because it's multiple choice and you can quickly eliminate two of the answers. In hindsight, easy for him to say!

So for those out there who have already begun to study for December (I began at the start of April), don't listen to anybody else except yourself and keep on familiarizing yourself with the material.

Of course I hear those who say to avoid burnout at all costs, but I'd rather not have to be in panic mode come November-December...

I am taking Level 1 in December.

I have reading 12 left to finish up Quant and will be starting on Economics later this week. I do not think it is possible to start too early. Starting early will allow you to take a little time off when getting burnt out and have plenty of time to review for retention.

I am using just the CFAI book and my own note cards I create as I read each SS.

This is from the perspective of a chemist, with no financial background. Those of you with accounting, finance, etc. degrees may find you need less time to prep.

hi,

how old are you guys .i am 31 and think pretty old for this business

I'm turning 25 in August, but I don't think it's too old to start anything. I figure when I'm done with this I'll be 27-28 then might try for MBA or JD depending on where I am in my career. But of course have to focus on Level 1 for now. lol

Wow, you guys are really disciplined with your studying! I find it really hard to study so early, I guess bc I'm used to cramming for exams in University. But on the other hand, I do have a schedule all set out for CFA & i'm not too far behind it. I've read the Economics book already & I'm working on Quant now. I'm going to leave Ethics till the very end. I've also left about 1.5 months for review/questions at the end.. and I've alloted one week for catch-up/review of previously read material, about every 3/4 weeks.

daj224, which flash cards did you get? I got the Schweser LOS cards in the package but they're all blank. Are your flash cards filled out & grouped by LOS'?

Stalla's Flashcards are all filled out and labeled by LOS

i'm 27. hope to be CFA by 30. more like 31. come on, you're in your prime dude! most of these guys on here are young and ambitious, but talk a lot. we'll see if they can walk the walk this Sat! good luck all!
