Every year, we hear of ever more efficient knives that leave fewer crumbs.
If we are living off of the crumbs that fall when we divvy up the pie, why are we so insistent on ever more precise knives?
I wonder, then, which is faster: the growing size of the pie or the efficiency of the knives we wield. The answer will mean a net increase or decrease in the amount of pie we each get.
